We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Esteban Cox as the new CEO of Southern Cross Care (Tasmania) Inc.

Mr Cox has had extensive experience in business management across various community sectors including aged care, primary healthcare and disability. Mr Cox worked for the last two and a half decades in both Australia and overseas in a range of multinational organisations primarily focussed on the provision of health-care services.

“I have spent my working career in and around the health care sector, so I am excited about the opportunity to lead Southern Cross Care,” Mr Cox said.

Ms Fishlock said the organisation undertook an exhaustive executive search to identify the best candidate for the position and Mr Cox was in the Board’s view, that person. “Mr Cox has extensive experience in the health care sector along with a strong financial background, which makes him well placed to lead Southern Cross Care,” Ms Fishlock said.

Mr Cox also has insight into Southern Cross Care, having served on the Board for nine months – when Mr Cox indicated interest in the CEO role, he was asked that he resigns from the Board to ensure transparency.

Ms Fishlock thanked the organisation’s Interim CEO Mr Jara Dean, who stepped into the role in the wake of the resignation of the former CEO. “I want to personally thank Jara for his support over the last few months, his work with the organisation has been invaluable and a credit to him.”

As part of the transition, Mr Cox and Mr Dean will work closely until mid-February when Mr Cox will take on the role of the CEO in a fulltime capacity.
