Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Kate Warner, AC, Governor of Tasmania visited Glenara Lakes Aged Care Home today to greet residents and staff and enjoy some live music by Greg Howe as part of the home’s COVID Safe activities plan.

During the height of COVID-19 restrictions in May this year, Her Excellency the Governor gifted Glenara Lakes three boxes of flowers from her garden at Government House and homemade shortbread to recognise the hard work and dedication of staff and residents. Facility Manager Louise Scrambler said the gift was a ray of light for residents and staff during that time and lifted the spirits of all in the home.

“We were so grateful to receive such a thoughtful gift and also the recognition of what both the residents and staff were going through during the height of the pandemic”, Mrs Scambler said.

“I extended an offer to visit Glenara Lakes when its was safe to do so and was utterly delighted when that offer was accepted”, Mrs Scambler continued.

Though the visit could not be as thorough as normal due to continued pandemic preventative measures, the visit has proven to be a highlight for those present. Residents and staff were able to greet Her Excellency the Governor from a safe distance.
