This complex provides affordable housing for pension recipients within a friendly village atmosphere in a very convenient location in West Hobart .

While accommodation has been provided in this location for well over thirty years, extensive refurbishments now provide residents with modern comfortable living conditions.

Lawrenny Court and Hamilton Place units are located on a near level site in the block surrounded by Hill, Arthur and Hamilton Streets in West Hobart within easy walking distance of a local supermarket, butcher, chemist, doctors and other shops and services. The cosmopolitan North Hobart shopping and restaurant strip is a short walk away while the Hobart CBD is only about two kilometres away.

There are Metro bus stops at each street entry and some local shops and supermarkets offer a home delivery service.

All units are fully equipped with floor coverings, curtains and blinds, heating, washing machine and dryer, ovens and refrigerators.

LAWRENNY COURT UNITS
131 Hill Street, West Hobart

Lawrenny Court consists of 58 independent living units housed within two storey buildings with level access to ground floor units and easy stairway access to first floor units.

A range of accommodation is available to suit most residents needs and circumstances. The range of accommodation includes:

  • compact bed-sitter units with combined lounge/bedroom, kitchenette with laundry facilities and bathroom
  • one-bedroom units with lounge room, bedroom, kitchenette with laundry facilities and bathroom
  • larger, spacious, one-bedroom units with lounge room, large bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, laundry and handy storeroom
  • spacious two-bedroom units with lounge, two large bedrooms (both with ensuites), kitchen, laundry and study or store room

HAMILTON PLACE UNITS
19 Hamilton Street, West Hobart

There are 26 one-bedroom units in this complex, located on both ground and first floor levels. All upper level units have level access via easy access ramps.

Units have an open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area, bedroom and bathroom with laundry facilities.

Most units also have a sunny deck off the lounge. Units are fully equipped with floor-coverings, curtains and blinds, light fittings, heating, washing machine and clothes dryer, refrigerator and oven.

Many of these units have lovely views over North Hobart, the Domain or down to the city and River Derwent.

VILLAGE FACILITIES AND ACTIVITIES

When available , there is off street car parking available for residents and short-term visitors and drop-off/pick-up parking is also provided.

A spacious, well-equipped Community Hall is located within the Village as is a large, attractive gazebo and BBQ area. Several raised gardens beds and storage areas are provided for those residents who like to grow vegetables and herbs or tend to their own patch of garden.

The Residents Committee co-ordinates activities and oversees many aspects of the Village operations, while the very active Social Committee arranges a wide range of activities and functions both within the Village and in the wider community. These activities include: luncheons, carpet bowls, billiards, swimming and water exercise sessions at our Sandown Village swimming pool in Sandy Bay. There are also art and craft groups, art exhibitions, monthly bus outings, pizza and film nights and BBQs.

Other less formal gatherings and get-togethers occur within the Village every day with residents making the most of the facilities available. A real community spirit exists with residents assisting one another with transport, shopping and gardening.

The Community Hall is also used for weekly Catholic and Anglican chapel services, Neighbourhood Watch meetings and is the local polling booth for both State and Federal elections.

WHY IS THIS ACCOMMODATION DIFFERENT FROM OTHER RENTAL ACCOMMODATION ?
